The Kaiser Elementary Library has been a Highly Effective Library for the past three years. A Highly Effective library is one that has a flexible schedule and a good library program that is integrated into the curriculum of the school and impacts student achievement through collaborative, standard-based instruction. At Kaiser the Teacher Librarian collaborates with every teacher and lessons are co-taught with the classroom teacher using 21st Century skills integrated into the grade level curriculum. Kaiser engages students using Inquiry-based research that provides authentic learning experiences and limits plagiarism. Students are taught important information literacy skills so that they become effective researchers, life long readers, independent users of technology, and a passion for lifelong learning. Information literacy skills are making a difference in student achievement and student performance.
